Hi there,

I am looking to book a flight in the near future, and wanted to know if there are of any websites that you recommend for me to use? I use Expedia but I am not sure if that is the best on that is out there.

Also, is it best to book a couple of months prior to or last minute? I have also heard that it is better to book on a wednesday rather than the weekend – I don’t know if that’s true or if the savings are significant.

Hey George,
Great Question! With so many sites to buy airline tickets it’s hard to know where to get the best deal.
I always search for flights on google.com/flights and have found it to be the best in my opinion. It’s easy to use and versatile.
If you know when you can go on vacation but don’t know where you want to go you can enter in the dates and scroll around a map that will show you the prices of each destination as you move the map around.
If you know where you want to go but not which dates will give you the best price you can enter in the destination and open the calendar which will display the prices for each day.
If you want to track your flight you can do that too and google will update you on any changes.
Also I trust it a bit more because google isn’t selling you the flight. They’re searching for it and will tell you a variety of websites where you can book it and what the websites charge.
As for whether to book in advance or last minute that’s a tricky one. I’ve had good results booking 6 weeks in advance on a Wednesday but there’s a lot of things to consider. For example if there’s a large event or conference at your destination on the day you’re going there last minute tickets could be expensive or impossible to find because people have bought them well in advance.
Hope this helps!
